Nearly 20 years ago STX released the original Eclipse and up till now has been one of the only three options players continue to choose. Now the Eclipse II will and has overtaken much of the market Warrior and its Nemesis series hold. STX kept much of what Goalies loved in the original model but revamped and refined the Eclipse II for the modern game in a few obvious ways. The first, is the increase in stringing holes along the sidewall, allowing players to custom tailor their individual channel preferences. The second, is the ergonomic grip of the throat allowing Goalies who prefer to choke up on the plastic a place to actually rest their upper palm, index, and thumb. The third, and most important is the several degree offset that begins at the midpoint and extends through the upper lip of the head. If you happen to be late to a save this offset, because the plastic is slightly behind your hand, increases your chances of tipping the ball and potentially making a save. This feat of design and engineering is the only reason you need to pick up the new Eclipse II.
